Benchmarks’ Community Resiliency Model (CRM)

This curriculum, developed by the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI), focuses on educating individuals on the biology of toxic stress, trauma, and resilience. The training introduces the concepts of trauma and resiliency through teaching a set of six wellness skills. The skills participants are taught in this training can be used to name and manage symptoms of distress as well as encourage well-being within themselves and others. Research has found these skills to improve self-reported well-being and symptoms of distress in individuals who use them regularly.

The goals of CRM training are:
• To create CRM teachers who are professionals as well as natural leaders of communities
• To share the CRM with children, teens, and adults within communities
• To provide a structure for preparation so communities can respond to events with strength, compassion, and a common language
• To link community members to community-based programs and governmental entities that support prevention, resiliency, and healing
